THE LAST POST OF 2016

Another year about to end and it's time for me to make the last post of 2016. I'll post my top 5 of this year and as a bonus I'll add a bunch of pics from some of my favorite artists of ESC16.

5. FRANCE: AMIR - J'AI CHERCHÉ

4. LATVIA: JUSTS - HEARTBEAT

3. GEORGIA: NIKA KOCHAROV & YGL - MIDNIGHT GOLD

I put my eye on Jamala in 2010 when she was announced as one of the participants of the Ukrainian NF and since that moment I knew she had what it takes to win Eurovision. What she did on stage in may was magical and it makes me extremely happy to see such a talented artist as a ESC winner.

Thanks to all the people who visited my blog this year & thanks to every single artist who gave me a bit of their time to answer lots of silly questions for this years interviews. Lets get ready for Kiev 2017!

Albania 2017: Lindita Halimi

Photo: Fadil Berisha
After 3 long nights of FiKmas (Songs, Awkward moments, and publicitet) the winner of Festivali I Këngës 55 is Lindita Halimi with the song Botë:
Hmm I like Lindita and Im happy for her but Im not a fan of this song. She is so much better than this "showing how good I sing" song. I really hope she finds an excuse to change the song like Elhaida did in 2015. C'mon Lindita! Bring us a S'të fal part 2!
Now this is exactly what we need from Lindita, She is a smart, hard working lady and I hope she finds a way to make the albanian entry work.

Big shout out to my favorite in this years FiK: DILAN REKA!

I liked Dilan last year but I didnt expect a song like this one from him. My first impression was like "WOW this sounds like a modern song and he is killing it on stage" and then I just started clapping and dancing along, The applause he got at the end of his performance shows you how good he was. (I was also cheering in front of my computer) Would have loved to see him in Kiev but Im glad he got a good result. Keep making good songs Dilan!

Eurovision 2016: And the winner is...

UKRAINE!
YES! YES! YES! YES! IM SO FREAKING HAPPY! I CANT BELIEVE IT! WHAT AN EXCITING NIGHT! (ALL CAPS EMOTIONS!)

I'll start by saying GOOD JOB SVT! The whole show was GREAT. Petra and Mans were phenomenal and Edward's script was brilliant. Its going to so hard to top this year's shows.

LOVE LOVE, PEACE PEACE!

Lets watch the moment of the results:
This is so crazy! I remember how mad/disappointed I was back then when she lost the Ukrainian national final in 2011, I still cant believe that a song like this one won the contest. But thats Eurovision, you never know what's going to happen. All these weeks I've seen so many "This song is too dark", "Too sad to win", "The public wont vote for a depressing song", "Eurovision is love peace party songs, not this" comments and last night the audience proved all those people wrong (2nd place in the televote). I hope the triumph of Jamala brings more different songs to the contest. We need more heart, emotions, risky entries, less over produced acts, passion on stage. Im over the moon right now and Im extremely happy for Jamala, This has been one of my favorite ESCs ever and Im glad it had a fantastic ending! GO UKRAINE! GO JAMALA!

BIG SHOUT OUT TO:
FRANCE/AMIR

SWEDEN/FRANS

AUSTRIA/ZOË

BULGARIA/POLI GENOVA

THE NETHERLANDS/DOUWE BOB

GEORGIA/NIKA KOCHAROV & YGL

LATVIA/JUSTS
