Switzerland 2018: ZiBBZ

Here are the winners of the Swiss NF: ZiBBZ with their song "Stones"

Im happy with the results, Stones is a pretty nice song and I really like their cool vibe on stage, it wont set the scorebord on fire but I hope they can qualify to the final. Good luck guys!

Chile is in the house! A couple of days ago we had an interview with Alejandro Fuentes from MGP 18 and now it's time to get to know more about another finalist from the Swiss NF, his name is Alejandro Reyes and here are his answers:

Hello Alejandro! Welcome to the Eurovision universe! How are you?
Hey, thank u! Im really good!

How would you describe yourself as an artist?
Im authentic, simple and ambitious.

You are one of the participants of the Swiss National Selection for ESC 2018. How did it all begin?
I was invited to a song writing camp organized by SUISA with Pele Loriano as director. We wrote songs for the Eurovision, not for any artist actually, just to summit the songs and then see who could be the one to sing them. I actually wrote 3 songs for that event. out of 700 songs 6 were chosen, and out of those 6, 2 were mine. I wrote ''Compass'' and ''Kiss Me''. then they asked me if I wanted to perform one of my songs and, well I just said yes. Quite simple!

“Compass” is the title of your song, what’s the story behind it?
We all have a compass or a direction to something that help us or makes us happy, can be a friend, a girl, a sport, hobby, or anything. Thats the main point I guess.. find your thing and follow your heart, your compass.

Describe the song with 4 words:
Deep, message, real, modern.

What can we expect to see on stage for the performance?
Me and my guitar. simple performance but straight to the heart!

What do you like about Eurovision?
It's big and a lot of people show interest.

What do you dislike about Eurovision?
Sounds kind of a bit political in the end.

Tell me the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word:
Chile: family
Guitar: hand
Nightmare: water

What are your plans for 2018?
I'm preparing an EP, and promo for a possible tour!

Hello guys! Welcome to the Eurovision universe! How are you?
HEY! We are great! thank you!

How would you describe ZiBBZ?
We're a Swiss sibling duo - home in Los Angeles & Zurich. Living for music - with no plan B.

You are one of the participants of the Swiss National selection for ESC 2018. How did it all begin?
We used to watch ESC with our family when we were kids. We always had in mind to perform on ESC one day but never felt our kind of music/performance really had a chance until the more recent years where there are more diverse acts and songs accepted. Common Linnets were our favorite so far!

“Stones” is the title of your song, and it’s written by you two and Laurell Barker. How was it to work with her?
Yes! She is an amazing, kind, fast thinking force of nature and we were so honored to write together!

What’s the story behind the song?
The message is something which moves us all deeply and is sadly still a problem in today’s world. It’s about inclusion, equality, diversity and tolerance. It’s a call to stand up against bullying and hate.

Inviting, groovy, powerful, honest

What can we expect to see on stage for the performance?
We have designed an amazing little set up for the Swiss final show and we know we’re going to give 120% and enjoy every minute. that’s all we can do. The rest is up to the audience!

What do you like about Eurovision?
That it brings people of all races together.

What do you dislike about Eurovision?
We used to feel like “organic” / indie artists didn't have a chance… but that has changed!

Switzerland 2016: Rykka

Here is the winner of the Swiss national final: Rykka with the song "The last of our kind":

Oh Switzerland! To be honest there were not a lot options in the national final but still, I feel like this is another version of the mistake they made last year, a bland female performer with a weak version of a Sia kind of song. Good luck next year! (Please dicth the "sing a cover" out of the NF and focus on looking for good songs/performers instead)

What do you do in the band?
Nico: I send emails and update the website.
Karim: I eat leftovers and drive.
Luis: I bring the rehearsal studio keys and sleep.

We like what “L’Agenda” magazine said about us, which describes us well: “an elegant mess”.

You are one of the participants of Swiss national selection. How did it all begin?
In a bar in Geneva. Drinking on a Sunday evening can have unexpected consequences ! Disque d’or is about the music production and broadcast industry. We found it interesting to inject our song in that circuit, observe what was going to happen and learn from it. To be perfectly honest, we didn’t think we could even be pre-selected.

“Disque d’or” is the title of your song, what’s the story behind it?
“Disque d’or”, in its orginal version has a cynical and crude approach. The story is that we wanted to describe the hypersexualization of the music industry and our schizophrenic puritanism as consumers. This leads to sanitized speeches and yet voyeur shows. Our idea was to put explicit words on what is usually implicitly shown. That is what we released in September.

Now there is a new part of the story! As requested by the swiss television, we prepared a different version, compliant with the contest rules. And it comes with a new scenario-free video that you can now watch here. Oh but we prefer the first one.

Describe the song with 4 words:
Libido, Industry, Cynicism. No fourth word sorry… the no-brand policy you know...

What can we expect to see on stage for the performance?
Fireworks. A lot of fireworks. Then a hundred dancers. And back to fireworks. Lots. And we could perform under-water. We also heard that going to the gym could boost our sales.
Frankly ? We are currently waiting for the feedback from the official ESC choreograph :)

There will be a new video clip “Vivant” to be coming soon, more gigs to come, and recording new songs during the summer. And then, which festival would you call to have us playing in their next edition? :)

The songs in swiss national final this year were not really good so I didnt watched the show but here is the winner:

She is talented and Im sure that was the reason she won and thats not a bad thing. The song is just not interesting and I think the whole act is kinda forgettable. Good luck Mélanie!

How did you meet each other?
- we met at the university of arts in bern, during our studies

With our name we refer to our study place Berne. We had a beautiful time in Berne, from there the words and . At the same time the name takes also a reference to that, Zytglogge' in Berne, as .

You are one of the participants of the Swiss national selection. How did it all begin?
- With the idea of Emanuel Daniel Andriescu:

How was the „Expert Check“ experience?
- For us as classical educated musician really strange, cause we had to play playback. we were not used to it before. Some how it was kind of funny.

"Singing about love" is the title of your song and its written by Mihai Alexandru and Andrada Ioana. How was it working with them?
- We worked very close. And listened to each other to develop the song. It’s a cool collaboration. Mihai is often coming to Switzerland to coach us for this new world of EUROVISION

Whats the story behind the song?

We already saw a live performance of the song on the „expert check“, what can we expect to see on stage for the final?
- you have to watch ;-) it will be different

- Miruna will present herself completely different. I really like it.

- They must be good. But we are concentrated on us.
