Hi Uku! Welcome to the eurovision universe, how are you doing? 

I am doing very well :)

How would you describe yourself as an artist? 

I like doing things differently with my own originality. 

You are one of the participants of Eesti Laul 2021. How did it all begin? 

It all began with me getting a thought while listening some of my songs that now was the right time to stand as a candidate for Eesti Laul.

"Kaos” is the title of your song, and its written by you, Henri Erik Tammai, and Rudolf Toltsberg. How was it working with them? 

It was all fun, cause in my opinion creation needs to come from a place where is lots of love :)

What’s the story behind the song? 

The story behind the song is that when You are cuddling with your bae you get the moment when your heart beats like 1 beat per hour. That peaceful moment. But suddenly everything can change to Chaos. So the song tells about those emotions.

What can we expect to see on stage for the performance?

You can expect very peaceful moments and also chaos like moments :)

Have you heard any of the other songs in the competition? Any favorite? 

I have heard, in my opinion there are lots of good songs.

The use of prerecorded backing vocals in the Eurovision performances will be allowed next year and that has set some kind of debate since some find it great but others think it could hurt the contest, as a singer what are your thoughts on this topic? 

In my opinion it's all fine because backing vocals are like other instruments.

What do you like about Eurovision? 

I like the positivity 

What do you dislike about Eurovision? 

That Estonia has only won it once

Uudo Sepp: This is the most me song I've ever sung

This next interview is from the winner of Eesti otsib superstaari 2018 (Estonian Idol). You are one of the participants of Eesti Laul 2020. How did it all begin?
I went to Andrei Zevakin( Producer and Song author) with a song i wrote but Andrei said there wasn't enough time to get this song ready for the "Eesti Laul" and he had one song ready to record. When i heard this song I instantly connected with it. I can honestly say, this is the most me song I've ever sung. 

“i'm sorry. i messed up” is the title of your song, what’s the story behind it?
People mess up all the time in any king on relationships. It is basically an apology song for everyone who has ever done some harm to somebody. 

Your Eesti laul song is written by Andrei Zevakin who is also the actor in the video clip, how was it to work with him in the song and in the video?
Andrei is really good to work with. Everything has flown perfectly! 

Most of the songs you have released are in Estonian, what made you decide to sing in english in EL?
I think singing in english is a bit of an obsession for me. Before I got known in Estonia, I wrote a lot of songs in english, and most of my idols also sing in english.

What can we expect to see on stage for the performance?
It will be really intimate show! 

Have you heard any of the other songs in the competition? Any favorite?
Yes! I liked Traffic's song! 

What do you like about Eurovision?
I like the passion the people have for this contest!

What do you dislike about Eurovision?
Whats to dislike? :)

Hello Fredi! Welcome to the Eurovision world!

How would you describe yourself as an artist?
- Pretty hectic I guess. I’m still searching for my thing. I’m really into hip-hop and RnB tho. 

You are one of the participants of Eesti Laul 2020. How did it all begin?
- We just wrote a song with Anett and by the time we finished Anett suggested we applied for Eesti Laul. I didn’t think it would go through but it was worth giving a shot.

“Write about me” is the title of your song, what’s the story behind it?
- I started writing songs from a pretty early age and at some point it was a really natural thing for me, to write songs about things and people who made me feel some kind of way. That was just my way of getting things off my chest. I was just wondering if everybody could write songs - what would they write about. And adding that romantic touch to it, as I tend to do, lead me to the main lyric. That was pretty much the only thing we had in the beginning, Anett really loved the idea and we started writing from there. Everything else just came into place - when Anett suggested that we’d change the choruses a bit every time, to make it into sort of timeline, that was when everything got really easy. The song is kind of self-explanatory: one side of the relationship is willing to give more than the other and overtime they start to grow apart. We’re both super happy about how it turned out!

Tell us about the process of creating and producing the song?
- I was having bit of a tough time writing-wise this past summer and I just remembered how many of the co-writing sessions had been uplifting in that sense. So I arranged some sessions with artists that I had wanted to work with for a long time. Anett agreed to come by my place and we listened to some demos. I had this guitar part down and she really liked it so we worked our way up from there together. By the time the song was written I asked my friend Mairo Marjamaa to write a brass-part and after recording all the instruments in different studios it only came down to finishing touches. My friend Ago Teppand helped me a lot at that time, so a big shoutout to him!

What can we expect to see on stage for the performance? (Will you be there with Anett?)
- We’ll both be up on the stage. We will try to keep it really classy and minimal. No fancy fireworks from us!

Have you heard any of the other songs in the competition? Any favorite?
- As for the other Eurovision songs, then no. I have a lot of friends competing at Eesti Laul this year and all of them have great songs. Some of them I like more than others but I don’t really like picking favourites. 

What do you like about Eurovision?
- I like the platform that it gives aspiring artist.

What do you dislike about Eurovision?
- That instrumentalists and producers don’t get enough credit.

Hello Leemet! How are you?
I am doing great, thank you for asking. Hope you are already having fun with all the Eurovision coming up.

How would you describe yourself as an artist?
I am a simple, down to earth kind of guy who loves to sing and do music with my closest friends. Country music is particularly close to my heart. Everything I do, I do it with passion and love and it has to mean a lot to me.  I aspire to be called one day a true country musician and perform with the great legends.

You are one of the participants of Eesti laul 2017. How did it all begin?
It all began one day, when Ed Struijlaart called me and told me he would like to write a song with me. I couldn't let that chance to just go by and like you see- here we are!

“Hurricane” is the title of your song, what’s the story behind it?
I made the song “Hurricane” with my co-writer from Netherlands, Ed Struijlaart, specifically for the Eesti Laul contest. It is a catchy pop-country song that talks about a powerful love that carries you like a hurricane. Hence the title “Hurricane”.

country, power, melody, love.

What can we expect to see on stage for the performance?
I really can't say much, but we tend to lift some of the mistery on my facebook page. I will say that there will be dancing involved.

It's huge opportunity and you don't get to see that kind of stages and shows all the time! That is the most interesting for me.

We are doing really great and excited for Eesti Laul 2017

How would you describe the band?
It's a mix between Ian's energetic rap style and Close to Infinity's floaty alternative rock

How did you meet each other?
We met through a shared rehearsal room. Close to Infinity practices in the same room as Horror Dance Squad (Ian's main band).

You are one of the participants of Eesti laul 2017. How did it all begin?
We started working on 'Sounds Like Home' last Summer and when it was time to submit to Eesti Laul we thought, well, why the hell not, let's give it a try. Receiving that phone call was a very pleasant surprise for us.

Well, it means a thick atmosphere for us and is a mix of at least 4 languages.

You are one of the participants of Eesti laul 2016. How did it all begin?
Well, Oliver asked me (Joonas) to help out and write a few of his songs with him. We finished the first song and submitted it a day before closure. Everything after that has been a fairytale.

Well, it’s kind of deep. It actually tells a story about a boy that didn’t have a father. I think every kid deserves to have a mom and a dad!!

I’m great, thank you.

How would you describe yourself as an artist?
I’m honest in my music, I always do my own thing and I love the fact that other people enjoy my music which makes me enjoy it even more.

You are one of the participants of Eesti laul 2016. How did it all begin?
It started 2 weeks before the deadline for Eesti Laul. One night I started playing this tiny piano that I have at home and took out lyrics that I had written a few days earlier and started on the melody and harmony. So when I’d written the melody I took it to my friend Joonas and he helped me finish the song and we went to the studio the next day.

“Strong” is the title of your song, what’s the story behind it?
The song is about accepting the fact that even when something goes wrong in life it will only make you stronger. We are very good at criticizing ourselves and not used to giving credit and love to ourselves.

Describe the song with 4 words:
Peaceful, simple, pure, honest

What can we expect to see on stage for the performance?
That I will keep as a surprise!

I have so many favorites! The favorites of my favorites are Mick Pedaja “Seis”, Jüri Pootsmann “Play” and I Wear Experiment “Patience”.

What do you like about Eurovision?
Eurovision is never boring.

What do you dislike about Eurovision?
Can’t think of anything

Tell me the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word:
Stage: Joy
Freedom: Music
Nightmare: My worst nightmare
Squirrel: Hyde Park
Fangirling: what does it mean (now I have to go check)
Dreams: No limits

What are your plans for 2016?
My plan is to continue my bachelor studies, to write new music, to release an EP in the end of 2016. And I want to travel somewhere I haven’t been yet. Most importantly have fun and enjoy whatever I’m doing
